Schedule a Class
All classes include tools, materials, instruction, snacks, and your finished rug. Read our design guidelines to ensure your imagery is right for tufting.
Class Duration
Class duration varies based on size of frame, complexity of design, and how quickly you work. Anticipate 1-3 hours for small rugs (20”x20”), 2-4 hours for medium rugs (28”x28”), and 3-5 hours for large rugs (36”x36”). If a second day is necessary to complete your rug, we will discuss at our first meeting.
Accessibility
All of our workshops are beginner friendly, inclusive, and ADA friendly. I am invested in dismantling any barriers to participation; I’ve worked with differently abled folks such as those with developmental delays and visual impairments. If for any reason this craft feels inaccessible to you, let’s talk!

Frame Sizing
Simple Design
Examples: bold icons, clean shapes, blocky graphics
Time: 1.5-3 hours
Moderate Design: space for line work and shading
Examples: cartoon characters, abstract art
Time: 2-4 hours
Complex Design: high level of detail
Examples: detailed characters, landscapes, geometric patterns, pet portraits
Time: 3.5-6 hours
Tufting Design Guidelines
DOs
Cartoon style faces with simplified features
Bold shapes with clean edges and outline
3-6 key colors that create a cohesive look
Large zones of color
Flat color blocks or simple shading
Hand-drawn, simplified version of your subject
Negative space or solid background
DON’Ts
Highly realistic portraits with lots of shading
Tiny details: thin whiskers/eyelashes, small dots
Extremely thin lettering
Complex symmetry or intricate patterns
Photos turned directly into rug design
Designs with ultra high detail characters
Designs that fill every inch with tiny elements
